Well, aren't we all just a bunch of country folk this week? :)
I love the first little red tomato! I just ate our first one a few days ago.
Yep, I was at the Thurston county Fair, which is way more fun with a good camera. I'll have a slideshow up soon with more of the pics I took. I'm on a mission to convince Preston that we need chickens in our backyard :)
I think it would be lovely to have chickens! I want chickens!!!
Yep, my pic is proof that I really did grow something in my garden even though I was totally on my own and had no help and knew nothing about how to grow something. I'm very proud. (Although I don't even eat tomatoes so it's kind of silly.) I have a much better idea what I would grow and how next time around.
Mom - I'm always torn about the whole rodeo thing. You know, the flank straps causing so much pain as to lead to bucking and frantic attempts to escape the pain and all. What are your thoughts about it?
I don't believe they are in pain. These horses are all super healthy and most have been doing this for some time. They know the drill. They don't like the flank strap and are, obviously, trying to get it off - but it doesn't cause them pain. And, they are only doing this for 8 seconds - or MOSTLY less. They know exactly what they are doing and they know where the exit gate is and go right to it as if it is a game they know well. That said, I don't like the calf roping because of how it jerks them around by the neck. :(

Sarah, are those tomatoes from your plot in the community garden?
DeAnna - looks like a chicken one would see at the fair.....?
